Position Overview
Join a growing utilities team as a Water Plant Operator in The Villages, FL. This hands-on role supports essential wastewater treatment operations to ensure regulatory compliance and safe community water standards.
Key Responsibilities
· Operate and monitor wastewater treatment systems (pumps, valves, filters, chemical feed systems).
· Adjust chemical dosages and system controls based on lab data.
· Perform routine equipment checks, maintenance, and repairs.
· Collect and analyze samples to maintain FDEP and EPA compliance.
· Maintain accurate records of operations and maintenance.
· Respond promptly to alarms, malfunctions, and emergency situations.
· Utilize SCADA systems and other automated controls effectively.
· Ensure adherence to all safety procedures including PPE, confined space, and lockout/tagout protocols.
Requirements
· Must have a valid Florida Wastewater Operator License (Class C, B, or A)
· High school diploma or GED required
· Understanding of activated sludge processes, filtration, disinfection, and general wastewater operations
· Familiarity with SCADA systems and basic instrumentation
· Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting experience
· Ability to lift, climb, and stand for long periods
· Willingness to work in all weather and rotating shifts
· Strong communication skills and a dependable work ethic
Preferred Experience
· Municipal or industrial wastewater treatment experience
· Knowledge of FDEP regulatory compliance
· Preventive maintenance program experience
· Familiarity with Florida Administrative Code Chapter 62-602
