Shift: Day

Pay Range: $17.27 - $19.28 per hour

Job Overview :

The Unit Secretary provides clerical and receptionist support for the unit and is the communication link of the multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School diploma or equ ivalent
  • Comprehension of medical terminology

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Full Time Day
  • Rotating weekends

Essential Functions:

  • Acts as a receptionist to all customers.
  • Adapts to varying work requirements dependent on the unit’s needs
  • Answers phones/intercoms in a courteous and timely manner, screens calls and refers messages appropriately
  • Assists in the flow of department work processes by running errands to other departments as requested
  • Functions in an emergency situation as a team member with guidance from supervisory personnel
  • Maintains adequate supply of clerical materials
  • Maintains proper order of patient charts as per established guidelines
  • Participates in financial control through appropriate use of supplies and adherence to charging mechanisms
  • Performs duties to support the nursing staff
  • Processes the flow of information on the nursing unit and when appropriate, with outside institutions and individuals as directed
  • Provides accurate computer data entry of patient information,
  • Sorts and distributes mail
  • Transcribes physician orders from medical record into informational systems,
