Job Description
Step into a high-impact ER Nurse role in Cordova, Alaska, where your expertise will save lives in one of the most awe-inspiring settings on the planet. As a Registered Nurse with an ER specialty, you’ll be at the frontline of critical triage, stabilization, and rapid decision-making that makes a tangible difference for patients and families during their most vulnerable moments. This opportunity invites you to channel your clinical finesse into a remote community that values precision, compassion, and collaborative care. Imagine starting your shifts with the glow of northern light and ending them knowing you’ve helped someone regain their footing in a hard-won moment. Alaska’s pristine landscapes—glaciers, fjords, coastal wildlife, and expansive wilderness—provide a backdrop that’s as invigorating as it is humbling, offering moments of serenity amid demanding clinical challenges.
Cordova is a unique living and working environment, a harbor town where rugged natural beauty meets tight-knit community spirit. Here you’ll experience a blend of exceptional outdoor access and professional fulfillment: the chance to develop advanced critical care skills in a setting that demands versatility, autonomy, and immediate teamwork. For nurses drawn to variety, there is also the option to participate in rotations that place you in other locations across Alaska or within our broader travel network, expanding your clinical horizons while maintaining the extraordinary benefits of a well-supported travel role.
Role Specifics and Benefits:
- Key responsibilities: Lead triage and initial assessment, monitor vital signs, interpret EKGs, administer medications and IV therapy, perform wound care and dressings, manage airway and respiratory support, and respond to code blues with the acuity and composure required in a busy ER. You’ll coordinate with physicians, specialists, and ancillary teams, document thoroughly, and provide patient and family education. Your role will include continuous evaluation of patient status, prioritization of care, and efficient handoffs to ensure seamless transitions across shifts and departments.
- Professional growth: This ER specialty role offers ongoing exposure to a wide spectrum of emergent presentations, from trauma and airway management to pediatric and geriatric emergencies. You’ll have access to continuing education credits, skill-building workshops, and mentorship opportunities designed to accelerate your leadership trajectory in emergency nursing.
- Competitive benefits: Enjoy weekly pay in the range of $2,402-$2,487, with guaranteed hours at 36.0 per week. You’ll receive a sign-on or completion bonus aligned with program wins, plus robust housing assistance or stipends to ease relocation. The contract provides extension opportunities, allowing you to deepen your experience with a trusted employer across longer horizons.
- Support you can count on: We provide 24/7 support for traveling healthcare professionals, ensuring you’re never alone on the road or in unfamiliar facilities. From credentialing and onboarding to on-call guidance and operational logistics, help is available around the clock. You’ll also have structured onboarding and continuous operational support to ensure a smooth, secure experience from day one.
- Work-life blend in a remote setting: While Cordova’s beauty captivates daily, the role emphasizes a sustainable schedule and resources to help you maintain balance. Community ties, safe housing options, and access to local outdoor activities can enhance your overall well-being as you deliver exceptional patient care.
