Job Description

Systems Engineer

Carnegie Robotics is a leader in designing and producing automated systems for use in a wide variety of commercial and government applications. We're seeking a highly skilled systems engineer who has the technical expertise and interpersonal skills to support teams of cross functional engineers to design and build systems with cutting edge software, electrical and mechanical components. In this role, the systems engineer will design, develop, and test systems with an initial focus on off-road autonomous vehicles. The ideal candidate will be able to reliably take strategic direction, provide technical leadership, and interact professionally with teammates, customers, and potential customers

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with cross functional engineering teams to design, prototype, and build automated systems that meet customer requirements
    • Understand customer requirements beyond those explicitly provided
  • Coordinate various team design, development, testing, and evaluation efforts
  • Work side by side with project/hardware/software/test engineering on all associated documentation to meet USG System Engineering Technical Review requirements
  • Oversee and manage the development of hardware and software requirements
  • Collaborate with other professionals to ensure high quality deliverables and risk management tools
  • Identify, analyze, troubleshoot, and develop solutions to complex system issues found during all phases of product development utilizing standard engineering and scientific principles

Systems Engineer Required Qualifications / Skills:

  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills
  • Broad familiarity with current engineering/management tools. These may include:
    • Software coding and configuration management tools such as GIT
    • CAD packages (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, etc.)
    • PCB Design Tools (Altium, Autodesk Eagle, Kicad, etc.)
    • JIRA, Costpoint
    • Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational skills with a focus on coordinating disparate fields of study
  • Working knowledge of at least one programming language

Systems Engineer Preferred Qualifications / Skills:

  • Previous experience with Autonomous Vehicles
  • Familiar with USG Systems Engineering Processes and Documents
  • Familiar with Military Standards including MIL-STD-882E
  • Familiar with current requirements tracking software, e.g. DOORS or equivalent

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical field
