Job Summary

We are looking for individuals to join our client’s team as Special Events Worker. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting the setup and teardown requirements for all meetings and special events across campus.

 

Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES- The percentage of time spent performing essential functions is 95%. Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:

  • Set-up and clean-up chairs, tables, stages, platforms, bleachers, lecterns, etc. at various campus locations for meetings, catered events, and other scheduled events.
  • Remove, move and/or relocate furniture, equipment, supplies, and move to storage locations.
  • Read and understand blueprints to complete a room set-up.
  • Remove accumulated waste from rooms and buildings, as required.
  • Operate various types of scrubbing, buffing, and shampooing equipment such as scrubbing machine, vacuum, wet-dry pick-up machine, etc., and hand tools, as required.
  • Sweep, scrub, and shampoo various types of floors and floor coverings and furniture. Wash windows, wall sections - floor to ceiling, window screens, etc.
  • Maintain tools, equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition; report unusual conditions to supervisor.
  • Operate motor vehicles to transport materials, equipment and personnel between building work sites. (i.e. manual and/or automatic transmission).
  • Interface with other departments, and others, in daily work assignments.
  • Assist with unloading and stocking supplies and equipment.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following duties are considered secondary to the essential duties listed above:

  • Assist with set-up/clean-up of catering items.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Skills Required

  • Three (3) months of effective experience required
  • Required to have a valid Driver's License and provide an MVR annually
  • Prior experience operating a 16 ft to 26 ft straight truck required
  • Required to be computer literate and keyboard proficient (30 WPM)
  • Required to pass a data entry test (80%)
  • Required to pass a driving test with vehicle (16 ft to 26 ft)

Knowledge, skills &abilities

  • Must be able to read, comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions and have math skills up to Basic Algebra
  • Must be detail oriented and able to follow instructions as required in the performance of duties
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with customers
  • Must be able to analyze a situation, make recommendations for service enhancements
  • Must provide excellent customer service skills

 

Education/Training/Certifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

 

Additional Requirements

  • Shift hours/Days: M-F 1pm-930pm; Weekends As needed.
  • Uniforms provided.
