Job Description

Position Overview

The Athletic Director provides visionary leadership, coordination, and oversight of all interscholastic athletic programs at Tippecanoe Valley High School. This position ensures that all athletic programs operate in accordance with Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation policies, the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA), and all applicable state and federal regulations.


The ideal candidate will be an experienced leader who demonstrates integrity, fiscal responsibility, strong communication skills, and a deep commitment to student-athlete development, sportsmanship, and community engagement.

Qualifications


  • Master’s Degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Sports Administration, or related field.
  • Successful coaching experience at the high school level.
  • Successful coaching experience at the collegiate level.
  • Prior experience as an Athletic Director, Assistant Athletic Director, or Director of Operations.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of IHSAA rules, policies, and eligibility procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage athletic budgets and fundraising programs.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Leadership and Program Administration


  • Provide leadership for all athletic programs, promoting excellence, inclusion, and sportsmanship.
  • Supervise, evaluate, and mentor all head coaches, ensuring alignment with school and district goals.
  • Develop and communicate a shared vision for athletics that complements the academic mission.
  • Coordinate scheduling for all athletic contests, practices, transportation, officials, and event staffing.
  • Serve as the school’s primary liaison with the IHSAA and other member schools.


Financial and Operational Management

  • Prepare, administer, and monitor the athletic department budget in collaboration with school administration and the corporation business office.
  • Oversee all athletic purchasing, fundraising, and financial recordkeeping to ensure compliance with Indiana state law, IHSAA regulations, and district financial procedures.
  • Seek community sponsorships and partnerships to enhance athletic programming and offset costs.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of uniforms, equipment, and facility usage.


Facilities and Weight Room Oversight


  • Supervise the safe and equitable use of all athletic facilities, including the weight room, gymnasiums, fields, and locker rooms.
  • Collaborate with coaches staff to support the comprehensive strength and conditioning program.
  • Ensure that the weight room and athletic facilities are appropriately staffed, maintained, and used in compliance with school safety protocols.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and custodial staff for ongoing upkeep and improvements.


Community and Public Relations


  • Serve as the public spokesperson for Valley athletics, managing communication and public relations with professionalism and transparency.
  • Uphold the values of sportsmanship and positive representation of Tippecanoe Valley High School at all athletic events.
  • Ensure compliance with IHSAA, Title IX, and all applicable laws and regulations regarding athletics.
