Job Description

The clinical educator is responsible for the development, coordination, delivery and/or evaluation of training and educational activities with a focus on patient care staff. Education will be accomplished in the clinical as well as classroom environment.

The clinical educator serves as a consultant and resource for staff caring for patients as well as ancillary department staff. Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Req Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
• Req 3 years acute care nursing experience with at least 2 years formal or informal experience in an educator role
• Req Thorough knowledge and understanding of protocol, procedures, and standards within area of nursing expertise.
• Req Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.Req Ability to assess educational needs and design and develop responsible curricula.
• Req Working knowledge of the use of established care models in the development of education programs.
• Req Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate individual patient care programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Pref Master’s degree Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field, or in progress, strongly preferred * Master’s Degree in Nursing may be in lieu-of Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
• Pref Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association

Required Licenses/Certifications:

• Req Registered Nurse - RN (CA Board of Registered Nursing)
• Req Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
• Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)
