The California Center for Sustainable Communities is hiring a specialist in mapping software and technology, including ArcGIS, LiDAR processing, Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, LaTeX, SQL Server, MicroStation, QGIS, Python for GIS, and Tableau. The Mapping/Technology Specialist will work directly with the center director and research team on high-visibility applied research and product development in support of state energy policy. The Mapping/Technology Specialist will be a critical contributor to several key research tasks. The Specialist will be responsible for developing front end maps, tables, and graphic representations, accompanied by documentation and user guides, of building energy use by building type, size, sociodemographic characteristics, end use, and other attributes for different geographical aggregations across the state–adhering to aggregation guidelines to protect customer privacy. The Specialist will be responsible, as well, for developing other interactive data tools and related deliverables for policy applications including building decarbonization, energy infrastructure planning, and utility program design. The Specialist is expected to coordinate with partners and external stakeholders for initial data product development, and post-implementation evaluation and refinements. The successful candidate will be able to work as a part of small research teams running multiple projects concurrently, with fast-turnarounds for data visualizations, associated documentation, and user and technical guides.
