Pipe Welder Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Execute welding tasks on pipes and steel made from a variety of materials, including Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel (316, 304, Hastelloy, and AL6XN), Plastic, Copper, and Brass, accommodating sizes from ¼” OD to 18” OD.

• Interpret welding symbols and specifications from technical drawings.

• Conduct welding operations in diverse environments, including fabrication shops and operational facilities, both indoors and outdoors.

• Deliver high-quality welds that adhere to project specifications by utilizing various welding techniques such as GTAW, Orbital, SMAW, Soldering, and Brazing

• Assess the worksite for potential obstructions to identify the safest and most effective locations for field welding.

• Identify necessary tools and materials to carry out tasks efficiently and safely.

• Set up and operate welding machines and equipment, ensuring the appropriate selection and application of filler materials.

• Strategically plan the installation sequence to facilitate weld inspections and avoid interference with other construction or operational activities.

• Create and maintain ISO drawings and a daily welding log for documentation purposes.

• Conduct inspections of materials, tools, and equipment, as well as final welds, to ensure quality and identify any inconsistencies or defects.

• Design, route, fabricate, assemble, and install new utilities and process piping systems in accordance with job specifications.

• Modify, repair, or alter existing utilities and process piping systems as required.

• Perform hydrostatic or pneumatic testing on both new and existing piping systems to ensure integrity.

• Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols throughout the welding process.

Basic Job Qualification Requirements:

• Preferred 3+ Years’ Experience in Commercial / industrial process pipe welding

• Must Pass 2” CS Sch80 Pipe GTAW Bend test welded in the 2G & 5G Position.

• Must Pass 2” SS Sch10 Pipe GTAW Bend test welded in the 2G & 5G Position.

• Able to work minimum 40+ plus hours per week.

• Able to work Holidays.

• Self-motivated individual with a cooperative attitude a must

• Ability to work with minimum or direct supervision.

• Ability to perform quality welds in different positions, locations heights and environments.

• Follow all health, safety & environmental requirements.

• Reliable transportation to and from work

Physical Requirements

• Work up to 12hr+ Shifts for a 40hr+ week.

• Work at elevated heights using Ladders, Scaffolding, Aerial Lifts

• Able to lift up to 40 lbs throughout the shift.

• Able to stand and work for prolonged periods of time.

• Must possess enough strength and stamina to perform the basic and essential functions as identified above.

• Must be able to move in and around confined spaces and uneven areas.

• Must be able to adequately hear and respond to voice commands and alerts from other employees, alarms and other job-related noises.

• Visual acuity, depth perception and color discrimination consistent with that required to work at heights and on uneven surfaces.

• Must be able to work wearing Hardhat, Safety glasses, Safety/Steel toe boots, High visibility vest and Fall arrest harness equipment.

• Able to work inside or outside with various temperature and weather conditions and where noise levels are at or above 85 decibels with hearing protection.
