Susquehanna Waldorf School is seeking a part-time Nursery Afternoon Garden Assistant for children ages 2 & 3. We are looking for a teacher dedicated to Waldorf pedagogy who will bring a confident, nurturing, and warm classroom presence. This is a Monday through Friday position that will begin with meetings in late August and then with the regular daily schedule from September through May 2025, 10:30 am to 3:30 pm. The pay rate is $16/hour, paid monthly on the last business day of each month, September 2024 – May 2025.

Description and Essential Job Functions:
The Assistant will work harmoniously alongside the Lead Teacher to provide kind and nurturing care to students in a safe indoor and outdoor environment. They will arrive in the classroom at 10:30 a.m. each day and remain on campus until 3:30 p.m., with a 60-minute unpaid lunch hour.
Job Functions Include:
- Daily snack preparation
- Nap time set up
- Room cleaning
- Participation in all aspects of classroom rhythm, including story and circle, outdoor time, washing dishes and making sure the room is clean.
- Supporting the lead teacher in times of transition.
- Taking part in class festivals and offering needed support.
- Model behavior for students that aligns with Waldorf pedagogy.
- Meet regularly with the Lead Teacher for planning, study of Waldorf pedagogy and to communicate observations.
- Holding the class for rest time each day while the Lead Teacher is attending to other tasks.
- Other duties as they arrive or are requested by the Lead Teacher.
- Assisting and monitoring children in the bathroom, classroom, and outside.
Applicant must have the ability to walk for long periods and physically assist children as needed on outdoor adventures. CPR/First Aid training and all relevant State and Federal clearances are required.
