Legal Assistant II Location Remote in Los Angeles, CA : Overview:
Responsible for supporting the California Workers' Compensation Hearing Representative Unit
handling cases from the outset of lien litigation through trial. Responsibilities include the
preparation/filing of pleadings, coordination of schedules, communication with Claims, preparing and serving discovery and organization of files. Maintains a solid understanding of AmTrust's mission, vision, and values. Upholds the standards of the AmTrust organization.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares pleadings and correspondence including, but not limited to, court notices,
declarations of readiness to proceed (DOR), Response to Order for Medicals, discovery, trial
briefs etc
- Coordinates/schedules meetings, hearings, and appointments
- Provides information to claims professionals and insureds.
- Composes and typing routine correspondence.
- Data entry.
- Reads and routes of incoming mail, taking calls from attorneys, claims professionals, lien
claimants, counsel, etc.
- Writes simple correspondence and work in a paperless environment.
- Creates and maintains a heavy litigation calendar.
- Presents information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and
other employees of the firm.
- Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.
- May be required to work overtime as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- 3 years minimum experience as assistant in California based workers' compensation law
office
- EAMS Filing Experience
- Organized, self- motivated, with ability to work independently with a great attitude.
The salary range for this role is $26-$33/hr. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California. Base pay offered may vary depending on, but not limited to education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics. This range may be modified in the future.
