Job Description

Litigation Docketing Assistant – Washington, D.C.

A well-established legal organization is seeking a Litigation Docketing Assistant to support a busy litigation team in the Washington, D.C. office. The ideal candidate will bring experience with civil rules and procedures, a high degree of accuracy, and the ability to manage deadlines across multiple jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze incoming docketing requests and legal documents
  • Calculate, enter, and track critical litigation deadlines
  • Interpret and apply Federal, State, and local civil procedure rules
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date docket entries
  • Prepare customized and standard docket reports as requested
  • Proofread and verify calendar data for completeness and accuracy
  • Liaise with attorneys and legal staff regarding docketing policies and deadlines
  • Monitor shared inboxes and coordinate with legal teams on timely submissions
  • Provide support and guidance on docketing procedures
  • Stay informed of rule updates across jurisdictions

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal Certificate (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 2 years of litigation docketing experience
  • Familiarity with court filing procedures and legal processes
  • Ability to calculate court deadlines for Federal, State, and appellate courts
  • Experience with rules-based calendaring software preferred

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Base salary: $65,000 – $77,000 annually
  • Comprehensive benefits including fully paid employee medical, dental, and vision insurance
