Job Description

POSITION GOAL

To coordinate, instruct, and oversee the work of roofers and other assigned trades employees. To perform skilled work in the repair, rebuilding, installation, and maintaining of all types of roofs in a responsible and accurate manner.

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

The Leadman, Roofer shall carry out the essential performance responsibilities listed below:

• Coordinate, instruct, and oversee the work of roofers and other assigned trades employees in the performance of their responsibilities.
• Work from job orders or verbal instructions from foreman/supervisor in repairing of existing roofs.
• Prepare reports regarding the use of materials and requisition supplies from central inventory.
• Work alone or exercise supervision over mechanics and/or helpers assigned to specific jobs.
• Climb and work from scaffolds and ladders, and work along edges of high buildings.
• Do all types of roofing, patching, and flashings.
• Follow both written and oral instructions.
• Work well with others.
• Repair leaks, flashings, pitchpans, and skylights.
• Participate, successfully, in the training programs offered to increase the individual's skill and proficiency related to the assignments.
• Operate School Board owned vehicles in a safe manner and assume responsibility for all supplies and equipment on the vehicle.
• Complete all projects in a journeyman manner and ensure proper recording of time and materials.
• Perform all duties which require extensive physical effort such as climbing, lifting of over 25 up to 60 pounds, pulling, etc.
• Review current developments, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibility.
• Ensure adherence to good safety procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the director/ supervisor/manager/foreman.
• Follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Educational Development (GED) Testing Program.
• Skilled roofer with at least seven (7) years of recent experience.
• Must provide own hand tools.
• Demonstrated knowledge of all types of roofs used in the school system, methods of repair, and proper tools.
• Must pass tests appropriate to certify and demonstrate competency in the job.
• Must have a proper Florida commercial driver's license with endorsements compatible with the assigned duties of The School Board of Broward County, Florida.
• Computer skills as required for the position.
• This position will include pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.

• Bilingual skills preferred.
