Job Description
Position : Business Data Analyst
Location : Washington, DC Hybrid
Duration : long term contract
General Accountability:
The candidate would be a self-starter and capable of working independently to high standards of quality.
Scope of Work
Detailed review of Functional Design Analysis of Existing Reports: Systematically review and analyze the logic, data sources, business rules, and calculations embedded in current SAP BI/BO reports to understand their structure and functionality.
Mapping Data Flows and Dependencies: Document how data moves from source systems to the reports, including transformations, joins, and aggregations.
Technical Documentation of Report Logic: Create comprehensive documentation of the report structure, formulas, filters, and business logic, which will serve as a reference for developers and testers during the application development phase.
Development of Test Plans and Test Cases: Design detailed test plans and test cases for unit, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT) based on the reverse-engineered logic and requirements.
Test Data Preparation: Identify and prepare test data sets that reflect real-world scenarios for validating the new or enhanced reports.
Direct Monitoring and Review of Testing: Oversee and participate in the execution of test cases, including unit, integration, and UAT, to ensure the new or enhanced reports meet requirements.
Training Testers: Provide guidance and training to testers (not end users) on how to execute test cases and validate report outputs.
Resolving Design and Testing Issues: Work with developers and testers to resolve issues identified during testing, such as logic errors, data mismatches, or performance bottlenecks.
Configuration and Setup of Automation Tools : Configure, script, or set up automation tools (e.g., Python scripts, Power Apps, Power Automate flows) that are part of the new system's / PBI report's functionality
Implement AI/ML solutions that can improve the efficiency of the reports.
Skill Set Requirements:
4 6 years of experience in business analysis with the requirements provided above.
Finance domain specific knowledge is a plus.
Working knowledge of Python, Power Automate, Power Apps or similar tools are preferred.
Knowledge of Oracle DB or similar DBs are a plus.
Data Lake and Dremio tool knowledge is a plus.
Experience with Power BI or any reporting tool is a plus.
