Overview:

The Department of Psychology in the College of Arts & Sciences at Quinnipiac University invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor of Psychology. This faculty position plays a key role in managing and expanding internships and other experiential learning opportunities for our undergraduate students. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with external organizations such as clinics, schools, businesses, and nonprofits. The area of specialization within psychology is open, though clinical or counseling psychology training is preferred.

The Department of Psychology consists of 15 full-time faculty and serves a growing student body of over 375 majors and 325 minors. Our faculty represent diverse specializations, including behavioral neuroscience, clinical, cognitive, developmental, industrial/organizational, and social psychology. Responsibilities:

  • Teaching responsibilities for teaching faculty are typically 4 courses (12 credits) per semester and include Introduction to Psychology as well as courses in the candidate’s area of specialization.
    • The successful candidate may receive up to three course releases (reducing the teaching load to 3-2) to support their work in managing and expanding student internships and other experiential opportunities, as well as advising all first-year Psychology majors.
  • Additional responsibilities will include supervision of undergraduate independent studies as well as intentional engagement in department, college, university, and community service to help advance the mission and values of the program, department, college, and university.
  • The position is a full-time teaching faculty position and does not require a program of research.

Education Requirements:

  • A terminal degree in Psychology (or closely related field) is required at the time of employment to be hired at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor. Candidates with a master’s degree in psychology (or closely related field) are eligible to be hired at the rank of Instructor.

  • Ability to develop and teach Psychology courses
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with external organizations such as clinics, schools, businesses, and nonprofits.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing and teaching Psychology courses, especially those integrating experiential learning, such as internships and project-based learning.
  • Training in clinical or counseling Psychology or experience building and managing field experiences at clinical sites.

Qualified candidates are expected to live or relocate within a reasonable daily commuting distance of Quinnipiac’s Mount Carmel campus upon hire.
