The Director, Adult Discipleship works to fulfill the mission of Discipleship Ministries by directing the work of the office of Adult Discipleship by convening strategic conversations, being the broker of knowledge, and creating excellent resources that support leaders (clergy and laity) in their ministries with Adults and Older Adults across all contexts (multicultural, multiracial, multigenerational, etc.).
This position creates and manages a plan for training leaders in conferences and/or congregations to strengthen leaders in adult ministries and adult Christian education, small groups, older adult ministries, addressing issues of faith formation, spiritual formation and discipleship for the revitalization of congregations – including daily spiritual practices. Originates training as well as responds to requests from conferences, congregations, and individuals seeking to fulfill needs for training leaders in adult ministries. Includes training opportunities through webinars and/or distance learning, web-based eLearning, and face-to-face.
Will also initiate the development of resources, including original resource writing – working closely with the Marketing and Delivery Team to share created and acquired resources on the DM platform - to strengthen leaders in the faith formation of adults and older adults to create disciple-making ministries that positively impact the vitality of the congregation. Resource development is guided by content creation practices in concert with other teams at DM, as well as consultation with external stakeholders. This includes creation of small group materials for worship series created by the Discipleship Ministries worship team.
Education / Experience
Master of Divinity or equivalent.
Six-seven years’ local church experience in the work of ministries with adults, or equivalent.
