Job Title: Development Associate

Location: Washington, D.C. (Hybrid)

Industry: Nonprofit & Public Policy

Pay: $22 - $25/hour (Based on experience)

Position Type: Contract (at least 3 months)

Start Date: ASAP

Schedule: 40 hours/week

Addison Group is hiring a Development Associate for our client, a leading nonprofit think tank focused on public policy research and advocacy. This organization works to advance policies that support economic equity and opportunities for low- and moderate-income communities.

 

Job Description:

The Development Associate will support the fundraising and donor relations efforts of the organization. This role involves data management, donor outreach, prospect research, and assistance with fundraising appeals and donor events. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about nonprofit development work.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Donor & Fundraising Support:

  • Assist in managing donor outreach efforts, including fundraising appeals and stewardship campaigns.
  • Record and acknowledge donor contributions in the database accurately.
  • Research potential individual and institutional donors to identify funding opportunities.

Data & Database Management:

  • Maintain donor records and track giving trends using Salesforce and other CRM tools.
  • Generate reports on fundraising performance and donor engagement.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to enhance data accuracy and improve processes.

Event & Communication Support:

  • Assist in planning and coordinating donor events and meetings.
  • Prepare materials for donor visits, board meetings, and fundraising initiatives.
  • Draft and proofread donor communications, including acknowledgments, impact reports, and proposals.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: 2-5 years in fundraising, donor relations, or nonprofit development.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and Salesforce.
    • Experience with online giving platforms like GiveSmart is a plus.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proactive, problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
    • Preferred: Familiarity with donor prospect research tools and fundraising strategies.
