Job Description

We desire to meaningfully connect with OMF U.S.’s audience through a variety of strategic communication channels (website, social media, videos, print materials etc.) that raise missions’ awareness, help our audiences better understand OMF, and guide our audiences to mission involvement.

We are seeking a Communications Director to lead and serve a team of creatives (writers, graphic designers, podcasters, videographers etc.) to meaningfully connect with OMF U.S.’s wide range of audiences. The Communications Director will help maintain and grow OMF’s “brand”, serve a broad US-based audience, and work closely with other OMF Teams to develop content, tools, and materials to connect with their primary audiences as well. The Communications Director should be able to lead/serve teams, manage multiple projects, and have a collaborative spirit as they navigate the creative process internally with the Communications Team and externally with the OMF U.S. Team.

Major Responsibilities

  • Establish and Contribute OMF’s Voice for Missions Amongst East Asia’s Peoples
    • Serve as the “broadest front-door” to raise missions’ awareness, share compelling stories, and provide opportunities to connect and join OMF.
    • Clarify broad audience groups that the Communication Team is intending to reach (related, but not the same as communication + design services provided to the OMF U.S. Team).
    • Social media (website, blog, podcasts, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc.)
  • Lead the Communications Team
    • Shepherd team, set team direction and discern strategic priorities
    • Manage all aspects of the Communications Team and team priorities. This includes:
    • Leading team meetings
    • One-on-ones
    • Retreats
    • Hiring, onboarding, training new team members (can delegate as appropriate)
    • Payroll, time off requests, expense reports, partnership development
    • Other administrative needs for the Communications Team
    • Set team direction and provide guidance for project outcomes
    • Work with the Communications Team (and other corresponding teams) to discern strategic priorities (what projects to say “yes/no – not yet”)
    • Participate in Mobilization Department Team meetings
    • Set and monitor annual budget (work with VP for Mobilization and Executive Director for Mobilization).
  • Mobilization Director Responsibilities
    • Participate in Mobilization Director meetings, retreats, and other team leader functions.
    • Collaborate with OMF International Communication Community to ensure communication alignment and sharing of resources.
    • Work closely with the Vice President for Mobilization and Executive Director of Mobilization on communication strategies, budgets, and growing team capacity.
    • As needed, collaborate with the National Leadership Team on overarching communication strategies, priorities, and desired outcomes.
  • Communication Style + Branding with OMF US Team
    • In collaboration with Communications Team Members, create creative + unified + fellowship aligned communication style (brand).
    • Collaborate with OMF U.S. Team to provide consistent communication style and branding to best serve OMF U.S.’s audiences.
    • Collaborate with National Leadership Team and/or respective Department Vice Presidents to grow OMF’s “brand equity” through strategic projects (stories, social media campaigns, website, print materials etc.)
    • Enable OMF U.S. Teams to effectively connect with their intended audience.
    • Ensure Project Request Processes are followed and maintained.
    • Ensure Project Deadlines are met (or work closely with Project Manager on Communications Team to ensure deadlines + expectations are met).
    • Balance and manage project requests, calendar, and production bandwidth to maintain team health.

Qualifications

  • Love for Jesus Christ and growing relationship with him.
  • Passion for East Asia and reaching its peoples for God’s glory.
  • Experience in cross-cultural ministry preferred.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to proactively plan, work, meet deadlines, and contribute to a team.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and communication skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Teams and all Microsoft platforms.
  • Ability to relate to staff at all organizational levels and develop and maintain effective working and interpersonal relationships.
  • The ability to work within an international, interdenominational organization.
  • A teachable spirit and flexible attitude.
  • Experience is preferred.

Compensation
If not serving as a volunteer (i.e. unpaid), the financial remuneration for this position is “support-based.” This means that like most OMF (U.S.) personnel, the person who takes on this role will be asked to trust the Lord to provide the funds to cover the amount of the salary. This is done by forming a Partnership Team to pray for you and give towards the financial need.  OMF will provide training about Partnership Development and a mentor to guide the process.  The salary amount for this position is based on the ministry job requirements and the OMF U.S. salary guidelines. OMF also offers generous PTO and eligibility to participate in our 403(b)-retirement program, training and development opportunities, and team retreats.

How to Apply
To apply, please send a cover letter and resume to OMF (U.S.) at us.jobs@omfmail.com.  For more information about OMF, please visit us online at omf.org/us.
