Job Description

Bestica is looking for a Basic Instructor to provide services at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX

Description : Provide microbiology subject matter expert (SME) support and training services for the Joint Biological Agent Identification and Diagnostic Systems (JBAIDS) and Next Generation Diagnostic Systems (NGDS) and, Common Analytical Laboratory Systems (CALS) Training Programs, and any related programs under the auspices of Molecular Diagnostics Branch, Academy of Health Sciences (AHS), US. Army Medical Dept. Center & School (AMEDDC&S)

Security clearance of SECRET is required.

Minimum Requirements : 

• Bachelor's degree in microbiology, biochemistry, or closely associated field with at least 2 years of experience.
• At least 1 year of teaching experience including designing/developing instructional materials is highly desired.

OR 

 At least 60 semester hours in medical laboratory science subjects that include microbiology and biochemistry, plus at least 4 years of experience as a military medical laboratory technician, and 1 year of teaching experience. (GS-0403-09 equivalent.)

• Molecular biology laboratory skills and teaching skills are required (e.g. ability to communicate clearly and concisely, explain complex procedures and concepts simply and clearly, multitask, etc.)
• Background or experience in biological defense or a military medical field such as medical laboratory, preventive medicine, food inspection, or other field involving infectious diseases is preferred, but not required.
• Able to stand and walk around classroom/laboratory for 2 hours continuously and intermittently for 8 hours.
• Able to individually lift 40-pound instrument 3 feet and lift 110-pound instrument with assistance
• United States citizenship is required.
• Security clearance of SECRET is required.
