Responsibilities

The Associate Chaplain position is managed by the Spiritual Care Specialist in partnership with the Vice President of Mission Services to staff the Mission Services Department at their assigned hospitals.  This department is responsible for the management and quality of religious and Finish spiritual care of the patients, families, and their visitors, as well as hospital staff members.  The Associate Chaplain will be responsible for the religious and spiritual needs of the patients, families, and their visitors, as well as hospital staff members. This position will respond in a timely manner to all requests for spiritual care and assistance. The Associate Chaplain will assess the religious and spiritual needs of the client, and address or assist in addressing these needs whenever possible. The Associate Chaplain will offer spiritual support and guidance where appropriate.  This position adheres and ensures the mission is integrated with ethical values into patient care and spiritual care delivery.  The Associate Chaplain partners with the Experience Department to provide a caring compassionate experience for all patients, their families, and fellow team members which includes documenting rounds done on patients and staff and performing service recovery when needed. This position is expected to provide support during a Hospital Emergency at the Incident Command, if needed, relative to their role of psychosocial support.  Performs related responsibilities as required.

The Associate Chaplain position consistently demonstrates clinical excellence and professional standards, with a focus on achieving board certification.  Associate Chaplain is expected to identify and obtain necessary training for their chosen chaplain specialty.  This role should develop research competency and engage in best practices utilized across health system.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

  1. Minimum of 1 Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) unit.
  2. Ordination in a recognized ecclesial tradition. In good standing with the ecclesial authority and in good standing with their faith organization. 
  3. Minimum of one (1) year in ministry with demonstrated competence in pastoral care.
  4. Previous pastoral care experience within healthcare preferred.
  5. Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  6. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
